Why every sports bettor needs to learn how to lose
Most people often think sports betting is all about winning, but your losses are just as important as your wins.

Even the greatest sports bettors and gamblers will lose from time to time.

But it's how they react to those losses that matter.

Why do you need to learn how to take a loss?

Imagine turning R5,000 into a R20,142.86 pay day...
in just a few weeks.

Now, imagine doing that 10 times a year... while at the same time putting a steady stream of double-digit profits in your pocket... gains like 60.75% in 39 days… 99.18% in 22 days... and 57.64% in 6 days.

You’re about to learn how you can book gains just like these… month in and month out… whether the markets are rising or falling.

An important lesson you learn at an early age

Growing up during school, sport was everything to me.

It’s how I made friends, met girls and travelled all around South Africa.

But every once in a while I’d lose a game or a race and the trip back home was anything but happy.

But there was something my coach said to me that suck in my head forever.

“You learn more from losing than winning. You learn how to keep moving forward”

And as I grew up, that quote still plays in the back of my head.

Each time I lose a game, make a mistake at work and more importantly, when I lose a bet.

“I keep moving forward”.

The danger of not being able to take a loss

About two months ago, whilst sitting at my local pub, drinking my usual Castle light.

My friend and betting partner was frustrated, pacing up and down never once sitting down to enjoy the game or his drink…

He was experiencing a losing streak.

And a bad one at that.

He had whipped out 20% of his entire bankroll in just two days!

And not being able to “move forward” had caused him to start chasing his losses, in the hope that he could at least break even.

But it was only causing him to make irrational decisions based on irrelevant information - Which ultimately leads to more and more losses.

Chasing your losses is a fool’s errand, but here are a few things you can do to shake off the idea:

1. Manage your bankroll wisely
2. Don’t bet while you are emotional
3. Never go with your gut feeling

If you can manage to control these three things, you’ll never fall into the trap of chasing your losses.

You can’t know how to win until you have learned how to lose

Don't take your losses with a grain of salt.

Take your losses with all the weight in the world.

Use the loss to see where you can improve, where you can step back and see what you did wrong and how you can avoid that mistake the next time around.

It’s only then will the weight of the loss and the hurt from the disappointment diminish.

Don't let your loss become a placeholder in your life. There are lessons to be learned.

Learn to win even when you lose.

As my coach once told me, “You learn more from losing than winning. You learn how to keep moving forward”

Until next time,
Christopher Ammon
